Start the New Year: Release the Old

Start the New Year: Release the Old

One of the areas we often need to detox is our emotional and physical space. As we start a new year, what are you ready to release? Is there something you are happy to isolate to this year and leave behind?

Ceremony for Emotional Release

Creating a ceremony to let go of what is no longer serving you and keeping it in the past is a great way to move forward feeling light and bright.

One way you can do this is by writing down the people, places, and experiences you are ready to release. Start a fire (in a contained, fire safe place). Place those things you wrote down into the fire. As it burns, say, “I release you, I release you, I release you.” When the items are done burning, invite in the new experiences you are ready to have.

Physical Release

Keep it simple. This isn’t a complete closet clean out or a hoarder’s intervention! If you need that, schedule it during a less hectic time. 🙂

To do a physical release, pick 1 or 2 things that are representing some place you are stuck.

Fat clothes? Skinny clothes? Let it go! Now. You aren’t either of those people.

Old notes from school or a past job? Time to meet the recycle bin.

Goals from last year? Tear it up.

What didn’t get done is past; what did, you can celebrate. Either way, release the physical evidence to move forward cleanly.

Be fully present with where you are right now. Release the physical ties that keep you bound to the past.

To A Clean and Clear Tomorrow,
