Have a Retreat (without packing your bags)

In the hustle of day-to-day life you probably feel like you need a little escape, retreat, or recharge. I can totally relate! That’s one of the reasons why I created the Maui retreat. Without a chance to hit the PAUSE button, the stress hormones start piling up. The to-do list edges out our to-be list.

But what if you can’t pack your bags? There’s still plenty you can do at home to host your own health retreat.

5 Steps to Experience a Wellness Retreat Without Packing

Step 1: Take Time Out

First and foremost you need to pick a date for this relaxing retreat. I recommend planning retreat time at least once a quarter. It’s important that you treat this time as if you were traveling away from home. Free yourself from the day-to-day distractions like e-mail, phone calls, social media, and the dishes.

Step 2: Pick A Retreat Scent

This might sound silly, but connecting to fragrance actually unlocks parts of our brain…including the part that allows us to relax. Personally, I am relaxed by the healing scents of suntan oil and ocean waves. That’s why I love this candle. But you can also use essential oils like lavender, lemon balm, and citrus to help set the tone for your healing journey.

Step 3: Set Up a Schedule

Once you pick a day you get to choose what you are going to do that day. You can pick anything that supports your health, connection to self, and rest.

Here’ a sample schedule that I love to use:

7AM: Meditation

8 AM: Yoga

9 AM: Breakfast

10 AM: Journal

11 AM: Spend Time in Nature

Noon: Lunch

1 PM: Self Care Indulgence

3 PM: Snack

4 PM: Reading and/or Creative Project

6 PM: Dinner

7 PM: Reflection, Journal

8 PM: Healing Bath + Meditation

9 PM: Bed

Step 4: Plan Your Meals

While hosting own healing retreat you want to have the right foods on hand for healthy meals. You can shop for and prep your meals ahead of time. Or you can use meal prep and cooking as part of your healing experience. Looking for a more done for you retreat meal plan? You can pre-order and pick up juices and salads from your favorite local detox juicery or health food store.

Step 5: Book Self Care Indulgences

When scheduling your wellness retreat, make sure your self-care indulgences also get scheduled. Some of the self-care indulgences that I recommend are:

Massage, Pranic Healing, Hydrotherapy, Sound Healing, Acupuncture, Sauna, Myofascial Release and so many more to choose from!
