Detox for the Holidays

I invite you to not put off your health just because of jingle bells, lighting candles, and champagne toasts. This holiday season can be about both having fun and taking care of you at the same time!

First step to more energy this holiday season…MOCKTAILS.

By cutting down on the alcohol, you can actually sleep better, treat your adrenals with the love and respect they deserve, and reduce the sugar highs and lows. All this equals better mood and more holiday cheer!

The simplest version of a Mocktail is to just replace wine and beer with a similar alternative. Some of my favorites are kombucha, KeVita®, grape juice, and sparkling juice. Kombucha and KeVita® would be the lowest sugar options.

GREAT Life Sangria

Pomegranate juice has studies for reducing growth of prostate cancer and breast cancer.

2 oranges peeled into wedges

1 bottle (24 – 32 ounces) pomegranate juice

1 organic apple cut into slices

1 cup organic grapes (whole or halved, it’s up to you)

12 ounces (1 bottle) ginger ale

Optional: 1 pear, 1 starfruit, 1/2 cup. frozen berries


Ginger Mule

1/2 cup Ginger Beer

3 tbsp Fresh Lime Juice

3 tbsp Club Soda


Mulled Cider

2 quarts apple cider

2 cinnamon sticks

2 whole allspice berries or 1 tsp ground allspice

2 whole cloves

1 thinly sliced orange


2 quarts apple cider + Mulled Spice Tea Bags

In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, bring 2 quarts apple cider and spices to simmer for 45 minutes. You can also put in a crockpot on low for 6 hours. Strain the cider, discarding solids, and pour into individual mugs to serve.
